In the many books I've read he never had that. I did research and he made a thing called Molecular expander. But the way it's described and used in comics isn't the way it was used in film. Some dude made a list of Doom's greatness:
KMC Forums - Revamped Dr. Doom Respect Thread
I only scanned it and didn't see anything similar to his powers in the movie.
It's wiki, but it listed it TK powers.

I'll take alook through my colection and see if I can locate it for you. But check this out...
I got it for a dollar at a thrift shop...
its an original run oversized edition from 1976... (40 years ago.)
The pages look like old newspaper kinda...
Anyway, he is screwing around with dimensional travel even back in 1976... crazy ass Doom.
You would be surprised how accurate the movie is to the comics in principal... they just changed and modernized almost all of it.... but they didn't really do anything new or original, just different takes on stuff already established.
LMAO... These dudes are gonna fight the Fantastic Four for 5,000 dollars.
That really puts in perspective how long ago 1976 is.
But anyway... Doom suffers from the same problem superman does. He has so many powers many of the new writers dont even know or understand or remember them all. Like, here he can freeze shyt by touching it... but thats something he rarely if ever does anymore.
If it were not for his moveset from Marvel vs Capcom, you probably wouldn't see him using his Molecular control abilities in the movie... The games are what repopularized them with new readers, although he has always had them.
