How did Alicia Keys fall off so bad?

I got mad when her first album dropped and they acted like her cover of Brian McKnight's "Never Felt This Way..." was better than his original. I was listening like
. I'm not mad at the fact they painted her as a rarity being a black(looking) girl from NY who played the piano, that's just the game of biz and marketing. I was just upset she literally won more Grammys on her first album than Marvin Gaye(and many other black artists) won his entire lifetime.
She's talented tho but I agree, when you mess with ingredients/formulas that work, things get messed up.
Fun fact: John Legend sings the backgrounds on "You Dont Know My Name"

I had to look him up. I forgot his name. Kerry Crucial Brothers. He was the exec producer on her first three albums: Songs in A Minor, Diary of Alicia Keys and I Am. Swizz came aboard on her 4th album he took over after that. Most of her hits are on her first 3 albums.

You forget keys came on hills of lauren hill's almost immediate absence after dropping that classic album, she left a huge void for keys to step into cause people were hungry for that sound.
Keys was really good, but I never thought of her as great. She had tons of hype, she did drop that classic second album I'll give her that....but it was slow walk down hill after that
Keys career as been on Barrowed time for years now.

I guess they hid it because he's 10 yrs older than her. When she came out she was like 19 which would've made him 29-30
It's cool to hate on alicia but the lady is a living legend. More bops than beyonce solo career.

I like her earlier music, but not her recent stuff. Although I always found her a bit overrated - not my favourite singer personally, but still a solid artist because she’s a great piano player as well.
