Was searching to see if someone said it first. I've got relatives raised in different countries who pick up the language and an understanding of the American culture near perfect because they had access to a TV watching most of our shyt.
They do crazy extensive research. I remember the profile of GTA: SA in Game Informer.
They actually visit the neighborhoods and get a feel for it like real writers and story developers should when they're doing a story that's grounded somewhat in reality.
