I was born in '80, so I watched this all of the time. It's actually one of the few forgotten shows, perhaps because it was It was just a good solid, family show - nothing more, nothing less.

Everyone thought the 227 set was the Sesame Street set.As for memorable eps, we have

Family Feud ep.
Bobby Brown shooting a video
Lottery ticket episode
Luther
Countess Vaughn debut which annoyed everyone

The episode when Calvin's boy was sellin dope, the episode with Luther Vandross in Atlantic City, the one when Mary was locked in the basement with Pee-Wee Herman

I don't think Pee-Wee was on the locked in the basement ep, unless he did 2. He was on the one with the robbers in the toystore, cause he used toys to prank fight the robbers...it was a water gun or bubble gun he sprayed in their eyes.

Most of y'all are too young. I remember when we all thought it was the Sesame Street set, and having Olivia (Rose/Alaina Reed helped perpetuate the myth). Brenda and Calvin in the Bobby Brown video, the gang on Family Feud with Countess Vaughn being mad she was getting answers wrong and Sandra answering every question with "a maaaan". Jackee won an Emmy or Globe for it if I remember correctly...and got her own backdoor pilot...it was trash and never picked up.

I don't think it was anything special, just a solid run-of-the-mill 80's family sitcom. But it wasn't like you had to see it, so I think that's part of it. It sort of gets lost, but Marla Gibbs should be more renown for what she did on that show - exec producer/producer/writer/song performer. I'm always telling a woman she should get her hairstyle like Brenda. What did it have 4 or 5 seasons, with the last season adding to the cast white-bul Dylan and jheri curl Travis. I do think it had more special guests than every show not named Diff'rent Strokes.
