legacy :hula: better fighter

Floyd was a better overall fighter than Ali but he will never surpass Ali legacy (imo)
Canelo has no chance to argue he was a better fighter than Floyd but he still has time to develop a better legacy
Personally, I don't see it happening but he still has time and with all the jumping around in weight classes getting belts while earning huge paydays it could be a REAL argument depending on what happens in 5-10 yrs

How you gonna surpass the man you lost to?
And people were clamoring for Canelo to take that fight. Floyd didn't even want to take the fight. Floyd said "He's not ready yet, and if I beat him, you guys are going to discredit me, and say he's an incomplete fighter." Then the media called Floyd scared. He said "Fine i'll fight him if he really wants to fight. Floyd proceeds to dismantle him. "AHH that didn't mean anything Floyd. He's an incomplete fighter." Now that Canelo is in a power position people are quick to forget. It's not the fact that he loss to Floyd. it was the heralded media behind his pursuit of that match with Floyd that will forever be stuck with him. Is he a great fighter? Absolutely. Holding 15 different versions of the world title does more than justify that. What's your metric of surpassing Floyd?

02-05-2015 Floyd Mayweather V Manny Pacquiao PPV Buys 4,600,000 Gate $77.85 m
2 26-08-2017 Floyd Mayweather V Conor McGregor PPV Buys 4,300,000 Gate $58.35 m
3 22-09-2013 Floyd Mayweather V Canelo Álverez PPV Buys 2,200,000 Gate $26.52 m
4 20-05-2007 Floyd Mayweather V Oscar De La Hoya PPV Buys 2,480,000 Gate $19.89 m

Canelo still isn't doing these numbers and he has more pro fights than Mayweather.
Canelo can't go make 200 million of PPV sells of with an exhibition fighter, even with all those world titles Canelo has accumulated. Building a fighter, starts with building a story, and he just doesn't have that. People either love Mayweather or hate him. Canelo doesn't cause polarizing emotions in people like Floyd did. Floyd took what people thought and laughed to the bank each time. Can Canelo do that? I just don't think so.

Canelo is the face of boxing and has a great resume. Passing Floyd will be a hell of a challenge because Floyd beat him with relative ease and because of the language barrier. Meaning if Canelo came close he could sell his legacy better if he were English speaking. As it stands, he would have to go way beyond Floyd to get the credit. He has a ways to go to catch Pacquiao, let alone Floyd. But he’s doing his thing.

He isn’t even the greatest Mexican fighter :mjlol:and he has to use PEDs. Basically how close is eminem to surpassing BIG Nas and Pac :troll:someone has to be a suspect racist to even think this white boy is anything close to Floyd (a literal grandfather when they fought lol)

This is very possible depending on a fighters resume.
Like nobody is ranking Corrie Sanders or Lamon Brewster over Wlad and those were both brutal stoppage losses
Floyd resume is just way too strong for Canelo to ever do that though.

Floyd has wins over at least 7 HOF boxers I think?
Pac
Gatti
JMM
DLH
Mosley
Cotto
Canelo

And that's just off the top of my head. He could have more if I really looked at his record maybe
For Canelo only HOF wins I see are
Cotto
Mosley
GGG

I guess people will debate with me whether GGG will be a HOF idgaf I think he'll get there maybe he won't
And Floyd also beat 2 of those same HOF that Canelo beat. The loss is big but his resume just doesn't stack up beyond that

Canelo been fighting hype jobs.. I give him credit for the 2 close fights with GGG.

I dunno what it is. It's like all these nikkaz scared to fight each other. Canelo, Charlo, Andrade were all in the same division and never fought each other. All these nikkaz scared to lose from 160-175

They figure a loss taints their career. Floyd has them poisoned. Floyd and Marciano was an anomaly. If you fight long enough eventually you will lose. But people all want to be unbeaten. I don't look down on any of the fighters that step in the ring. I mean look at the UFC. All of thos÷ fighters lose and they bounce back.
