Hey, you guys think Aaliyah is great.
Fine.

Difference of opinion.

I just don't see how this girl could be put up on that pedestal when she NEVER wrote her own songs, didn't have great vocals, and her career was built mainly on R Kelly's/Timbaland's/Missy Elliot's writing and Timbaland's beats.

Don't be mad.
It's just the facts.

Aaliyah >>>>>>>>>>>> If she had not died, Beyonce is only popular in the black community and white people never hear of her. And no Rihanna either, that's how big the hole she left out here

I have to call my lady @Anothergirl for this, Beyonce is all luck and ruling a weak era.

Lol White people never heard of her? One who cares what white people hear or don't but Aaliyah at her peak wasn't even close to the cultural impact of Beyonce. :skip:

:heh: and all 3 mentioned while great, were overrated and are only used for political purposes by delusional people to denigrate others. Tupac is greater than Drake. Okay cool. Why can't they co-exist?

Jordan is better than Bron/Kobe? Okay now Bron/Kobe suck because they aren't the greatest? :skip: All you are doing by making this comparison is showing you understand said persons own influence, importance. :umad:
No I'm saying people are too caught up in the moment that it's sometimes natural to forget greatness from the past

She's definitely overrated due to her premature death but let's not act like she don't have classic songs.

One in a Million
If Your Girl Only Knew
Back and Forth
Try Again
Are You That Somebody?

All classics and better than any song Beyonce has ever done.

Beg to differ. No one is playing that music. I heard Love on Top at 2 weddings alone this year :skip:

LOL I'm not defending Beyonce at all.
Her stans make me sick.

Some annoying bahamian chick that got pummeled in the face in 2009 even has better solo tracks than this fake bama fraud from houston.

Forget about swag, could she sang? Barely...her songs were catchy, but her vocals were not that good fam. I'll put Monica ahead of Aaliyah.
Who cares if she was a average singer he delivery was on point. And I think it's pretty obvious you don't need a great voice to make great songs

LOL @ Aaliyah's debut album.
Entirely written by R Kelly.

Yeah.
She's awesome.

I hate to admit if Beyoncé had prime R Kelly writing and producing her album she might possibly have done the album better than Aaliyah:patrice:, and that if Missy and Timbaland did her followup it would be pretty damn strong:patrice:....so im not gon admit that shyt at all:mjpls:...aaliyah just seemed so much cooler than a cooler:datazz:....i was a Mya and Moesha stan though:ufdup:

you're right...ie Janet Jackson, I said she made good catchy songs...but I'm not going to sit here and act like she was something out of this world when she wasn't. She was good, not great.
