After starting the season 20-8, the Pittsburgh Pirates are now 25-24.

Jordan Walker is hitting .231 in AAA.

Jasson “The Martian” Dominguez is hitting .198 in AA.

After hitting .438/.500/.551 in March/April, Luis Arraez is hitting .296 with a .700 OPS in May.

Andres Gimenez is hitting .236/.304/.649 after slashing .297/.371/.466 last season.

Life comes at you fast.
I tried to tell y’all.

Low key, Riley Greene has been raking in May with an OPS of 1.020 for the month. Maybe he's the one who's gonna pan out. :lupe:

Torkelson's still ass though and he's older. :unimpressed:

So of course I played some Alex Faedo lineups in Fanduel tonight and he killed it.

But my hitters are not doing anything.

Maybe my Carrasco lineup will be ok.

Man Greene is cold as hell. Torkelson been batting around 300 this month.

He's improved so much from last year. In the first month of the season when he was hitting below 200 I knew he would be aiight. He was crushing the ball and it just wasn't landing in play.

Torkelson probably won't be a star, but projections do have him as a solid player the rest of the way.
Doesn't strike out a ton. Walks a good amount. He's making good contact.

He's just really unlucky with flyballs. Not saying he's Aaron Judge but you put that guy in a betters stadium and I think he's a 30 HR bat.

Vinnie Pasquantino is on a path toward being one of the better hitting first baseman in the game.

A year or two from now he's going to be probably Top 5-8 at this position.

I think he can hit 30 HR eventually at Comerica Park.

I just like his approach right now. I don't want him over swinging for HRs. Be quick through the strike zone and hit it in gaps.

Coaches are confident in him and he's batting 4th and producing.

I also think it helps having Greene. Greene missed first half of last year with injuries.
Tork was the youngest guy on the roster. It helps to have your buddy who came up with you in the minors.

Greene hits too many ground balls to be reliable for very long.

If Detroit can get him to elevate the ball more, he could MAYBE have a Christian Yelich-type turnaround for Detroit.

The difference there is...while Yelich and Greene make hard contact....Yelich was always putting the bat on the ball - even in Miami. Greene strikes out way, way, way too much. So I'm not sure his ceiling is quite as high. But he's young enough that there's hope.

Hunter Greene is looking really good today. He needs a 3rd pitch though. He throws too many pitches because you only have to worry about the fastball mostly for a strikeout pitch and MLB hitters can foul a few off if nothing else. If he can get a change up he can mix in for strikes, that will go a long way to inducing some weaker contact and make his fastball pop that much more.
