Bobby Valentine was a part time player for 10 years, from 1969 to 1979.
In his career he had 12 HR, 157 RBI and 27 Stolen Bases.
Barry Bonds had 42 HR, 129 RBI and 40 Stolen Bases….just in 1996.
Obviously Valentine was no Bonds.
But it’s staggering how in the 1970s, bad baseball players managed to hang around for years.
If Bobby Valentine put up his season numbers in 2022, even at the Minor League level, he’d be cut by midseason. And people think baseball has not evolved.

obviously the game has evolved but someone like charlie culberson has had a ten year career
30 HR, 145 RBI, 21 SB in his career and a lower WAR and OPS+ than Bobby
