I continue my fight against this stupid, stupid, STUPID pitch count bullshyt.

Gerrit Cole struggled in the early innings vs the Pirates tonight.
He manages to hold them to 2 runs through 5 innings, even though he allowed 6 hits and 3 walks.

At the end of 5 innings, the score is 2-1 Pittsburgh.
Cole is at 93 pitches.

In the top of the 6th inning, the Yankees score 2 runs, to lead the Pirates 3-2.

Gerrit Cole isn't allowed to come out to pitch the bottom of the 6th. Because apparently, someone named Anthony Misiewicz would be better than him.
Misiewicz promptly allows 3 fukkin runs in 0.2 innings in the 6th -- blowing the lead, and eliminating Cole's ability to qualify for the Win. A win the Yankees desperately need, mind you, given that they're 7.5 back in the Wild Card and technically still alive.

This highlights why MLB teams are fukking stupid. People here say "do you think you know better than MLB teams?"
About EVERYTHING? No. But about THIS? Yeah. Yes, I fukking do.

Because even if you show me a stat that says the average Starting Pitcher's ERA the 3rd or 4th time through the lineup might be similar to the average Reliever's ERA -- that doesn't mean shyt when Gerrit Cole is NOT A GODDAMN AVERAGE STARTING PITCHER and the Pirates are not a fukking average MLB lineup.

This is one of the best pitchers in baseball facing one of the worst offenses in baseball.
You leave Cole out there for 115-120. That's why you're paying this motherfukker all that money. Because he's supposed to grind shyt out and win you games that the average a$$hole isn't capable of doing. Certainly not Anthony motherfukking Misiewicz.

There's so many Dodgers fans at the game in Seattle. I really wish I could have gone to a game this weekend.

The third and fourth time through the lineup stats are complete bullshyt. Analytics people love talking about sample size. Well, when it comes to the third or fourth time through the lineup, the sample sizes are incredibly small. So often, if a guy gives up a hit to anybody the third time through, they're getting yanked. So if they face three guys and one gets a hit, the opposing lineup is hitting .333 the third time through. It's total garbage and it never gets brought up.

Also, you should want your pitchers conditioned to go deep into games because at some point, you will need that effort from them in an important game. It's the same thing as load management in basketball. Guys aren't conditioned for the grind anymore. That's part of being a professional athlete and why they get paid handsomely to do something very few people can.

Astros started the week with a division lead and 6 games vs the A’s and Royals on deck. Only for them to lose 2/3 to the A’s and lose last night to the royals. shyt is frustrating playing down to competition.

And by the way...

Since his debut in 2018, how many times has Shohei Ohtani thrown 110+ pitches in a game?
Five. Five times in 6 years.

How many times has Shohei Ohtani pitched even 200 innings in a season?
Zero.

But but but pitch counts and innings limits!! :damn:

:beli:

It took them 80 games at Minute Maid for them to paint the batters eye finally, we will see next homestand if it makes a difference.

At this point I actually want us to go in as the wildcard since we are much better on the road than at home :francis:
