For some reason I thought Miguel Cabrera had called it a career, or was going to after the WBC.
Looked up his contract and see he's signed through 2025.
Looking at Baseball Reference, his drop off since 2017 is something serious.

This will be his final season.

He's the oldest player in the Majors in 2023 at 40 years old.

.308 career batting average across 20 seasons (this is his 21st).
507 career home runs
1,847 RBI -- 13 RBI away from catching Mel Ott for 13th all time.

2-time league MVP (and finished Top 5, five other times)

I remember when he came up with the Marlins as a skinny third baseman.
Tremendous career.

One of the greatest hitters of his generation, even after playing in big pitcher friendly parks his entire career. If he played in a bandbox or Colorado his numbers would be Bonds like

I fully support this.

I said some goofy things to some players in my time at baseball games. Never anything personally insulting. I didn’t call them a bytch or anything like that. But I’ve said “you suck” and stuff like that to players. Maybe I’m just old now but I regret it. They’re just athletes. Cheer. Boo. Whatever. Just don’t cross a line.

But sometimes fans have to get checked.
You say something wild and offensive and you think it’s part of the game experience but you don’t know what other people are going through or how they will take your smart ass comment.

Do better.
