I can’t believe a team gave Carlos Rodon 6 years, I was over giving him even one year deals and putting even the smallest reliance on him
I can't for the life of me understand their logic.
They don't wanna spend money, but don't wanna invest in their minor league system because Cashman hates everyone he picks even though he can't bear to part with them, despite the fact that developing your minor leaguers keeps your payroll down if they're successful. He has evidence of a pitcher actually beginning to show signs of competency in Schmidt but gives into this notion that all we want are stars, so he goes and overpays Rodon as a result of not showing faith in his minor league system. Now they have to spend an ungodly amount on what is really a #4 pitcher at best and now the Yankees are in nirvana: injury prone pitcher who is overpaid, so they can bytch about their payroll and think they have a bulletproof excuse for why things didn't pan out.
The Yankee business model is so stupid. They wanna save money but can't go forward with the best way to do that cuz they p*ssy. It's a vicious cycle. They'll have more money coming off their books this winter but they'll do one of 2 things:
1. spend very little on a washed ass name, like Evan Longoria
2. trade for a bum like Yoan Moncada and their number crunchers will try to sell us on why Moncada can still be a top 3 3B in the sport.
2024 is when the Yankee fanbase as a whole will collectively tap out on the season early if nothing of significance changes over the winter.
