Crennel really showed all all kinds of nuts on that 4th down play. I feel like OB would’ve either kicked it or bungled a different play. Overall a good game with minimal mistakes.
A couple passes Deshaun should’ve led the WR instead of trying to get to them, but I just look at that as him being spoiled by Hopkins, cause some of those drops and incompletions are completions from him.
Also, they simply need to run David Johnson outside more. Those between the tackles runs are not at all him, and it’s almost like conceding a down when that happens.
The secondary is still a work in progress. There’s just so many young guys and reclamation projects. That’s where you miss somebody like Jonathan Joseph even with his athletic decline. He’d have guys right in the positions they’re supposed to be in.
Another thing I did notice is that without McKinney, that MLB spot plays faster. McKinney obviously knows all the calls and stuff, but he’s just so slow for that position, and honesty is built more like an edge rusher than an MLB. Remember Ray Lewis in his latter years when he was slower and getting worked on one on ones bit still productive? Well that’s how McKinney looks right now, but Ray Lewis mid to late 30s when that was happening. McKinney is 27 right now. They may want to see the highest pick than can get for him. Adams looked much faster in that spot, which is very nice combined with Cunningham. Seemed like they gave Michael Thomas more snaps instead of John Reid as well, and he was all over the field. One game at a time to get back in the standings.
