I've seen coaches throw flags under 2 minutes plenty of times and not only did the play still get reviewed, they never assessed a penalty

As for all the outrage over the "missed" call on the field, if Jim Schwartz knew the rules and hadn't thrown the flag, the play would have been overturned.
Lions fans should direct their rage at their hot-headed coach, instead of these officials, who are doing the best job they can and made the proper call, given the situation.
