Claire is fukking ruthless...literally. It's annoying at this point how they just keep getting away. I thought this season we'd see some things begin to crack but it seems as they just become better and better at completely b*stardizing anyone and anything good or fair. I just finished season 5 and it wasn't good at all. It appears like the writers just didn't know where to go or just didn't want to give the audience anything.

They know people hate the Underwoods and like to see them squirm and wriggle their way out of situations that may expose them but seeing them be so adept at it got really old this season. Nobody could get close with everything that each character had on them. Doug's loyalty is one of the most terrible things to continue watching.

I hope season 6 is full of betrayal and exposal and I don't care who goes down first

Who's more evil Cersie Lannister or Claire Underwood?

You're a fool Donald. You and your dumb dead wife that you never shut up about.

:merchant)

best line in the whole season imo

I dont know what it is with the white women in this show but damned if they all look very attractive. I even wanted to smother my face in kathy durants tities at that party...:lolbron::shaq:

Breh no :dahell: You must be on a serious drought if you think any of these dry faced cacs were attractive

So finally just said fukk it and binged watch the rest. Long rant

Season started ok first few episodes, dragged into complete crap the middle, seem to level out around the 10th episode, and then went to full on over the top melodrama the last two. My issues

1) Way too many plots and narratives that were either dropped or mentioned briefly then picked up again like 7 episodes later. Like someone mentioned, the underwoods expertly navigating through complex transformative 8D extraterrestrial chest with the perfect solution was just not entertaining this season. The one issue I had with the whole election was all that drama(fake terror at the Tenn poll, Ohio, constant bribing/coercing congress members, the possibility of a split ticker) only to have it end that flatly and simple was so lame. I hated that out of no where conway went from this smooth, all american pretty boy new school Republican to this nut job PTSD victim was wack. I hated that all the support went to his VP pick out of no where. I also found it hard to believe that the VP, who was apparently some dumb old jughead war vet stupid enough to admit on mic that troops should be insubordinate to Frank, somehow orchestrated a fake hijack of chemical weapons in order to cause the underwoods to lose the special election. And then hes just gone. No true retaliation I hate that awful Bohemian Grove episode where Tusk(who was so good in season 1) was just there and the polly dude, who was in Conways corner feeding him voter information, just casually hands him the tape of conway threatening those pilots. It just made the whole election process that lasted a season and a half a complete waste

2) Every show has awful annoying subplot (Suicidal AJ in the sopranos, mrs schroeder in Boardwalk, etc) The Tom Yates thing. :beli: I literally zoned out everytime he was on screen. The deadpan delivery. The faux intriguing anecdotes and analogies. The fact this fukker was in the white house residence every night fukking Claire and not one person really noticing(which is hard to believe in a series where everyones secrets gets exposed) His demise was truly silly and over the top. Awful

3) The new characters sucked. They weren't interesting. The way they were introduced was sloppy and lazy. Usher just randomly appearing with Conway. Sean just some random ass fashion reporter expertly manipulating his way into the white house. Jane just popping up literally during the dirty bomb crisis. There whole backstories and arcs were rushed and even didn't make sense. Usher is suppose to be this smooth operative who can manipulate the hill. Usher literally lost with conway, lost with brockhardt, lost with romero, lost with frank, but is going to be Claires VP? It makes no sense. Same with Jane. bytch is some random deputy secretary of commerce who just so happens to have connections to terrorist groups, chinese diplomats, russia. What? And then has people murdered, and orders hit from a spa like a mafia don :mjlol: Plus her relationship with Claire was weird. Her devotion was not believable and how she casually talks about murdering Frank at breakfast. Why would the underwoods trust these people? They have all proven to be liars and complete opportunist. Like someone said earlier, Remy and Jackie were missed. They were at least likeable, had arcs, and were human.

3) The aiden hacker subplot. So he randomly leaves the country and threatens the underwoods with his involvement in election fraud. Cool. But then Russia kidnaps him and uses him as leverage. Ok. But hes magically kidnapped by I guess CIA agents right under the russian nose and brought back to America. To be killed. Yea right. And then some random romance with Harvey. Just awful writing

4) The final episode. Way too convoluted and silly even for this show. I understand his reasoning. He was boxed in and needed an out. But his plan was so layered, so complex. Leaking shyt to hammersmidt, convincing doug to go to jail, basically spilling his guts to the committee. All to what? To go in the private sector while Claire remains in office? Which goes against his beliefs in season 1 where he ridiculed Remy for being a lobbyist? Makes no sense And then he banks this all on Claire pardoning him. But he doesn't even tell her and the one thing we knew from past season is she likes to be involved in all decision making. It doesn't make sense for someone as shrewd as Frank to not see her turning on him for doing the shyt that caused issues between them in the past

5) Him pushing Durant down two carpeted stairs into a coma after the wink wink line off you need to take the fall was laughable bad also. Almost like a parody of the Barnes death.

Simple fact is this show should have been done after max Season 3 (should have truly been done after 2 since that truly was the pinnacle of Franks arc) I mean semi decent plotting has keep it interesting going forward. Now this show is just over the top politcal theater with padded plots and ripped straight from the headlines like law and order. And they are jammed packed in episodes to stretch this over a full season instead of one or two major slow burning season long plots. Sucks what happened but new writers/show runners(who I think is Robin Wright which explains her more prominent role) have that effect. Look at Entourage and TWD for examples. I will see this out (hopefully next season is the last) but I have no burning desire for more like past seasons

Just finished the 5th season...

Frank had his moments but overall, I didn't like the real world parallel s being used. Feels lazy and uninspired.

I'm rooting for him but this show seems to have pulled a U-turn and went back to season 3 territory :snoop:

I have only watched episode 1, but I am not sure I can go through 12 more episodes of terribleness. I am too busy for it.

Agreed with everything you said except I didn't think the ending was too bad. I've gotten to a point where I just realize this show is really just a Shakesperian tale in the modern world which allows me forgive some of the melodrama. The new characters in this season were poorly introduced though and the Tom Yates storyline was fukking stupid from the start. Hated that character. The show shouldn't go past next season as any further. The Underwoods are so exposed and their's been so much mistrust between Claire and Frank that the show would just be extra rediculous if they continue to try and flesh this out.
