:dj2::dj2: This shyt go hard, I am not surprised at all at the Chicago influence and I don't have a major issue with it. Thing is there are MC's/Producers who are putting out tracks with an updated NY sound, I think Bodega Bamz production on Strictly for my P.A.P.I.Z. represents what most would like to see from NYC but I think that train has passed tbh in terms of it "blowing up" but it's still out there if you search for it. This goes hard...

What I safely assume many of you non-new yorkers/older new yorkers feel a NYC MC/production in their early to mid 20's should sound like...

But this expectation is not realistic and does not synch up with how NYC kids 19-25 are influenced/living right now

Nikkaz still think it should be "regional" sounds in 2014 :dwillhuh:
:mjlol:

The internet killed all that.

It's now very hard to impossible for a regional sound to grow organically and be kept inside a region for a long time.

Most NYC kids that are in their early 20's grew up on southern music like Wayne or TI more than they did Mobb Deep brehs.

Word.

People have an unrealistic expectation for regional sounds and don't consider the impact of the internet.

Its natural for these lil crips from Flatbush to have more in common with Bds from the Chi than with the beastcoast movement or any of the other stuff hot in NY right now.

the internet
Can we just admit that New York's days as a hip hop Mecca are over?

I had no idea the drill scene was big enough to influence NYC...but damn :leon:

We brought you Kanye...and now Drill.
Is it safe to say Chicago may have the biggest influence the past few years?
