Gotta add that the idea of "maximum fines" is such bullshyt.

You want to ruin the life of the guy just trying to feed his family, but those businessmen KILLED people and all they gonna get is some fines that won't even come out of their own pocket?

Corporate types who cause folks to die due to safety violations should be prosecuted for manslaughter. When they steal money they should be prosecuted for larceny. Another bullshyt example of the rich treated different than the rest of us.
Could you elaborate?
Should the CEO/“corporate types” who probably never set foot in the state yet alone the site be charged for manslaughter or the workers who ignored safety procedures?

I cant see a manslaughter charge making it above the site supervisor honestly.

There's also the fact that a legal citizen would have no fear of being deported and could easily sue for damages especially if they made previous documented complaints that went unanswered.

Which is one of the reasons people object to a free for all of illegal immigration, it incentivizes businesses to behave in horrible ways such as this with a workforce that can't legally fight back

It completely depends on the situation and who signed off on the deficiencies and/or ignored the complaints. There are cases where it is proven that higher ups pressured local management to cut corners or where they knew of the issues and still did nothing.

I agree, it's one of the biggest problems with the status quo.
