I think he would. Michaels was a proven piece of shyt back then who used backstage politics. Montreal was a thing that happened. He tried using his influence to get The Rock taken out of the main event of WrestleMania XV. And wasn't he supposed to be in the main event of WrestleMania 13 before he lost his smile?
No one is taking anything away from Michaels for going out there with a broken back. But you can't act like this was some noble thing he did for the greater good, or because he thought Austin was the wave of the future.
Na, the main event of XV was supposed to be Mick, Rock, and Austin and when the office asked, he said that it sucks for a Mania main event and should be Rock/Austin. Vince Russo and HBK have both confirmed this in shoot interviews, and foley wrote in his book about it.
I’m not saying dude is a hero or anything, but when people talk about it they generally shyt on him for it. This is what makes no sense about wrestling fans to me. So you’re going to put it out there that a dude is a politician and refuses to put people over, when he literally went out there injured to do that very thing? Watch the match, you can tell he can’t move without hurting. He could’ve easily said his back was too shot and dropped the title or done some bullshyt. But he went and had a decent match. And for what, because mean mark Calloway taped his fists backstage by a monitor that he never saw?
