So I recently went to an event with a reputable fine dining caterer. They brought out these salad appetizers that was low-key the most disappointing thing I ever ate.

The "dish" was literally 5 large lettuce leaves, some dressing neatly drizzled on it, some almonds strategically placed around the plate and two apple slices. It looked nice, ngl. However, two bites into the lettuce and there is no more dressing on it. There was barely any food at all. These nikkas was so preoccupied with trying to create art on my plate that they forgot to feed me. :dwillhuh:

What's up with this shyt? I see people posting their gourmet restaurant dishes on the gram and the total amount of food seems equal to a 1$ bag of chips? How are nikkas going to restaurants dropping hundreds and leaving hungry????

Yeah after looking into 3 star Michelin restaurants and seeing the menu and portion sizes I just don’t see myself splurging a band for a couple of people to eat and still be hungry afterwards and I splurge on things but not food like that

When you go to these restaurants, and you know better, you know to order 3-5 courses. You don't order 1 single plate.

5-7 if it's a gastronomy-type joint :banderas: :ohlawd:

I've never left hungry. In fact, I leave stuffed and ready for a nap.

That's why I order an espresso with dessert :youngsabo:

It depends, but I agree with you on some points.

I can't really do the extreme fine dining places that are all about the experience and you leaving hungry. Alinea in Chicago comes to mind. They kinda feel like edible art exhibitions and I just can't appreciate them.

However, I absolutely love high end steakhouses and think they are worth the cost. Me and my wife will hit our favorite spot for special occasions and spend $500-600 easily. Food is phenomenal, incredible service and atmosphere, and we always leave outta there drunk with tons of leftovers.

:comeon:

Are you really referring to catered food as fine dining?
LMAO I'm speaking on the dynamic, that's how they marketed themselves.

That said, it's the same dynamic at the fancy restaurants I've been to. I've never gave enough of a fukk to look up Michelin Stars or whatever.

Fine dining is :heh:

I can usually cook meals that are far more enjoyable and less expensive than what I can get from those places.

Women like to pretend that those are the only dates they like and I refuse to fall for that shyt anymore.
