Don't Worry, Hostess' Top Executives Still Got Richer As Company Collapsed

Don’t Worry, Hostess’ Top Executives Still Got Richer As Company Collapsed
Jordan Sargent

Like the rest of you, I've been worried sick this week about the fate of Hostess' top executives. Will they leave their bankrupt company with the millions of dollars they deserve? If not, who will provide for their families as they hit the unemployment line? Thankfully, we can all have a happy, stress-free weekend: Hostess executives gave themselves raises up to 300 percent even as they were preparing to file for bankruptcy.

BCTGM members are well aware that as the company was preparing to file for bankruptcy earlier this year, the then CEO of Hostess was awarded a 300 percent raise (from approximately $750,000 to $2,550,000) and at least nine other top executives of the company received massive pay raises. One such executive received a pay increase from $500,000 to $900,000 and another received one taking his salary from $375,000 to $656,256.

Hostess' 18,500 employees are now out of work, but the company's job creators escaped with enough cash to re-invest in the American worker. Take, Brian J. Driscoll, that CEO who had his salary bumped to $2.55 million by the board. He was ousted from Hostess by the Teamsters after that salary raise, but why get discouraged? He clearly has experience running a thriving and successful confectionary company, so why stop now?

I've got an idea for a new product that I think will fill the niche left by Hostess and get executives like Driscoll back on their feet. It's a yellow cake roughly the shape of a coffee filter, filled with a thin layer of vanilla icing and adorned with chocolate frosting in the design of a pinwheel. Its name: the Golden Parachute.

Didnt see this update posted in the hostess threads.

:aicmon: @ all you fakkits blaming the unions like usual. Muthafukkkas are quick to put down a working class person who makes a "living wage".

You dudes fall right into line with these greedy CACs. Dudes stay raping the working class and breaking all our jobs down to minimum wage while you fakkits sit there and cheer them on.

:stopitslime: Dumb fukks wont be happy till every body working for minimum wage. How long are you fools gonna fall for the "we are paying our workers too much" nonsense.

Smarten up, or you gonna be stuck working for peanuts while rich CACs stay raping the working people.

You know damn well someone gonna buy the brand up and get these bakeries going for minimum wage. Bet you the price of those cakes and pies dont fall though. :rudy:

I've been saying this since this story came out.

They used a company like Bain Capital to pick apart the company. Terrible.

Just goes to show you that a lot of people that post here are stupid and uninformed. The unions, particularly railroad unions, helped establish the employment laws we take for granted today. And all of this corrupt union BS is just media hype. You think they're going to do a story about 94% of union members who aren't involved in fukkery? :stopitslime:

But but but an 18% paycut and 30% cut in benefits is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Such dummies. I'd like to see one of the Coli thousand dollar millionaires take an 18% paycut and 30% benefit cut. They'd be on the streets.

Elaborate.

And they're keeping black men up now.

Uh...goin off memory here.

But when slaves were released they had plenty of skills that whites didn't have so they were taking up the jobs. Whites created unions in order to give jobs to whites and keep the blacks out even though they were skilled. That created a rift in the economic balance in contrast of the white and black man..at least in America.

:belip:

I appreciate what Nasheed was trying to do but the documentary was filled with inaccuracies and psuedo-science. I'm sure the unions were racist as every institution was in the 19th century but their main goal was to secure better wages and working conditions.

How? They would have been taught those skills by whites in the first place? Sounds like some revisionist history shyt. What secret skills? Dudes werent allowed to fukking learn.

Im sure it was racist at the start to keep blacks out. Not becuz they were skilled, but becuz they were black. But pretty much everything was racist in this country at the start so that really means nothing.

..Waits for personal attacks cuz no info will be delieverd on this post.....

Charlotte by way of Chucktown What
I know back in the day Unions were used to prevent black men from taking certain jobs, and intimidating businesses from integrating, but all of that was mainly in the South.

Over time black leaders saw the Unions as a way to fight for worker's rights that would benefit black workers. People forget that when King was killed in Memphis, he was there to support the people that were on strike there at the time.

It's crazy how many regular working folk don't even know some of the basic working conditions that they enjoy that are due to the impacts of Unions in this country. If they did, it wouldn't be so easy for the media to spin the narrative that Unions are wholly evil and corrupt.

On another note though, I'm gonna miss the fukk outta them cupcakes...
