I disagree with Hopkins as well and him expressing this is either selling a fight or something along the lines of having a faulty complex. The reality is, his fights are pretty damn boring to those that don't appreciate anybody except the knockout artists. Hopkins' affairs tend to be long and grueling, and frustrating not just for his opponents, but for the audiences as well. I appreciate him both now but especially more so for what he did to opponents 10-15 years ago. Still, he's delusional if he thinks his fights are fan friendly though. I love watching his highlights and I can watch the Tito fight over and over again, and it never gets old. Still, he's not doing anybody in 2014-2015 like he did to De La Hoya or Tito.
Another thing, Foreman was old as hell, but was still fascinating to casuals. Part of that I think was boxing was still in a good place here in the States, and the Heavyweight division was still interesting unlike nowadays. Not to mention his old azz really was putting serious paws on those young boys. I was in the chair at a barber shop sitting directly across from Michael Moorer, just a junior in high school thinking this dude is a monster. Then Foreman took his strap. Unbelievable. There's a certain allure to an older athlete being able to compete in that fashion. Plus Foreman was smiling like a grandpa, talking sh!t like they used to talk sh!t almost like a relic from a time gone by. If Hopkins was capable of laying dudes out still, he'd be given more credit than he's already given.
