KIRKLAND, Wash. - Seattle soccer star Hope Solo was back in a Kirkland courtroom on Monday morning, moving closer to a trial on domestic violence charges from a June incident.

Solo walked into court hand in hand with her husband Jerramy Stevens. It's the same courtroom and the same judge Stevens himself faced after being charged with domestic violence two years ago. That case was dropped.

Now, Solo is facing similar charges and hoping for the same outcome.

"We were hoping for a trial as early as possible," said Solo's attorney Todd Maybrown. "Looking at the schedule, November was the earliest date possible."

Solo, a University of Washington graduate who helped the U.S. women's soccer team win gold medals at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics, spent two nights in jail after she was accused of hitting her sister and 17-year-old nephew at their Kirkland home during a family fight.

Police say a family member called 911 to say Solo was "going crazy and hitting people."

When police arrived at Solo's sister's Kirkland house, they heard shouting and found Solo's sister and nephew crying and with visible injuries, according to court documents. Police say the nephew's shirt was ripped and his face was red and had marks on it. He also had a bleeding cut on the bottom of his left ear.

Officers say Solo was drunk at the time, and she was charged with two counts of fourth-degree domestic assault. She pleaded not guilty and was released from jail on her own recognizance.

The 33-year-old later apologized on Facebook to her fans, teammates, coaches and the soccer community for her involvement in what she calls a highly unfortunate incident.

In the meantime, Solo is playing and practicing with the Seattle Reign, posting photos on the same Facebook page.

As for her future with the team, managers say they will wait for the outcome of the legal case before they make a decision. If convicted, she could face six months in jail.

In the meantime, Solo's attorney has filed a motion to dismiss the case. It's one of several issues that will be discussed at her next court hearing in November.

Solo says she's confident her name will be cleared.

I hope hope solo get's the help she needs to live a functioning and happy life :troll:
