That's the problem. The people that picked him as the coach are the same people that assembled that roster.

I'm not basing my dislike for Jackson's coaching on his record coaching a makeshift injury riddled Warriors roster. It's that he's a total moron.

How many Warriors practices have u been 2?

10ppg. and 8ast. (Jackson) vs 11ppg. and 6 ast. (Rivers)

from what I remember, doc played on the bum ass clippers and hawks, and jackson played mostly for the pacers and knicks. both were playoff teams. jackson was purely a PG for his teams. he wasn't even a scoring option really. doc's teams sucked and he still only put up 11ppg. I remember doc being more of a combo guard than a pure point. also jackson played way more years and his stats look worse since he had some years at the end with poor ppg and ast production.

My Pops Forever RIP
27. Randy Wittman (Washington): Never came close to having a winning season. Nice guy but a proven loser.

21. Kevin McHale (Houston): Can’t hide his cynical attitude. Not thoroughly committed to coaching.

Been saying this for YEARS about these two.

Same shyt with Mark Jackson.

Those Clipper teams were solid playoffs teams and the Hawks wasnt bad neither..just had to go through Boston and Detroit..he was on those Knick squads too that went to the finals in 94..like I was saying thats when his knees were an issue..dont forget he will put them paws on you too (see 93 knicks vs suns brawl) :russ:

I agree about Jackson being more of a pure point and like Peter Vesey said a few post ago he was bigger and more of a def stopper

Mark Jackson getting a bad rap. Funny how good players make coaches look better. A healthy Curry and Bogut and Jackson is top 12 on that list next year.

This particular ranking seems to do a good job of separating coaches and their records, such as not just assuming Mike Brown and Scott Brooks are great coaches just because they have been blessed with a lot of great players. Mark Jackson is where he should be given his lack of experience.

I think that most of the coaches on that list are interchangable and that only a few coaches in the league really make a tangible difference. Jackson has just always seemed clueless to me and I don't know why they were so anxious to give him a head coaching job before he ever proved himself in any lesser roles.

Warriors owner Joe Lacob was a part owner of the Celtics when they won their last championship with Doc as the head coach. Doc himself put in a call on Jackson's behalf when he was interviewing for the job. Doc told Lacob that being an assistant coach before coaching is overated when dealing with a guy that played as a point guard for over 17 seasons in the nba. Lacob said all of this in an interview. Mike Malone handles the grunt work of the coaching. Players love playing for Jackson because he's a players coach, and they hate playing for Scott Skiles. Guys are more likely to sign with a coach they like than a guy they don't like. That's why nobody wants to play for Milwuakee including Jennings and Ellis who both will sign with another team next season although Jennings will be restricted.
