Cecilia S. Johnson- Founder

As the founder of Hood Cons, Cecilia S. Johnson has always one to step away from the crowd. In April 2008, she read an article titled “Why I’m a Black Republican” in a national Black magazine and her life hasn’t been the same since. She because heavily involved in her local political scene and has now decided to step out on her own. In September 2012, she came up with the idea of Hood Conservatives. Initially a joke, she soon realized that there was a need for a different perspective on minority outreach on the conservative side and has decided to be that voice. Aside from being the (beautiful :dead:) face of Hood Cons, she is a community activist, natural hair guru and stylist, entrepreneur, fashionista and fights to remain the top diva of the GOP. ;)

Our Plan

We have identified 5 issues in which we can not only help strengthen the urban core, but also build a relationship with the black community. Below is listed all five issues and how each will play a big part in the overall picture.

i dont know what we are supposed to say about her site. i guess more power to her but i think she is wrong on the "plan" and the "about" page, but it would be on all the usual liberal talking points you see me saying in here. in general, if she will not confront the real reasons why voting is so regionally and racially organized then she will do nothing to further her cause.

For the past 5 years, I have been a conservative. I, as a black conservative have endured things that can make anyone who chooses this lifestyle lose their mind. Between the name calling and the disrespectful comments, I have often entertained the idea of just keeping quiet and remaining to myself. I’ve come to the conclusion that that isn’t an option for a person like myself.

I’ve been living in the hood for the past 15 years and I’ve seen it go from bad to worst and if it continues on the path that it’s on, the thought alone is depressing. The black community is suffering. There’s no nice way to put it and somebody has to do something. The main reason for this (in my opinion) is the fact that for over the last 60+ years, the black community’s conservative ideology has been replaced by the liberal mentality that most of us still believe in to today. This mentality has done more than change their votes from Republican to Democrat. It has destroyed their families, incarcerated their men, left their children in failing school districts, killed their children and so much more.

We have to change that. Not just to get all black people to vote Republican but to change the way they think. You change the way they think, you change the way they vote. In case you were unaware, black people tend to have a negative view of conservatives but I don’t blame that solely on them. WE as an idea has failed them. We ignore them every election season and are not willing to even go into their neighborhoods to talk to them. We talk behind closed doors about how black people really are conservative at heart and they believe in the same things we believe in yet we make no efforts to SHOW what we mean. Where I come from, you’re not taught the ideas and values that I believe so strongly in now. I didn’t know really what I believed in until 5 years ago and I now have the opportunity to educate others but in a different way.

I feel that God has given me something (I’m not 100% sure what it is yet) but I know that by sitting back watching my community and race deteriorate, then I am just as much to blame as those who are destroying it. I fight a different fight than many other conservatives. As a BLACK conservative, there’s a negative stigma and I don’t fit the bill. I feel that there are plenty of ways that we can effectively change the negative things in the inner city and show that the conservative ideology is the one that will help my community.

I’m sick and tired of sitting back and watching the things that go on. I’m sick and tired of just talking about. I’m sick and tired of thinking “Maybe this will be the year for conservatives to get support from those in my neighborhood”. But most of all, I’m sick and tired of the 2 major parts of me not being able to come together in peace.

I am able to see this from a different angle than perhaps you are. I was black for 20 years before I was a conservative and these are 2 things that will NEVER change about me. I know that many may have tried to come up with different ways to garner black support but you will see that ‘Hood Conservatives’ is different from any idea presented by anybody in our party. These next few pages include ideas that I think is a sure fire way for us get black people to realize that the liberal mentality is doing nothing but crippling them and that a conservative life is much simpler. After all, my goal is not to change a party but a mindset
