24 was entertaining.....but I've never put any thought into the story after watching it. I know it's not really fair to compare a network show to one on cable, but....the differences are stark.

Sure a show gets a bigger thread as it goes on, more people hear about it, decide to check it out

The idea that no one gave a fukk about Homeland until the Emmys is ridiculous. People in that thread were singing its praises and the acting in that thread.

Alot of people, like me didn't watch Homeland till the season was over. Like who the fukk watches the first season of a tv show unless it's heavily promoted or has some creator of a former great show behind it?

I got into the show at the very beginning of the year and have been singing it's praises since.

What this show did in one season not just with foreign affairs but interpersonal relationships and the human psyche is something I've never seen on tv before.

Yeah Walter White went from good to bad, yeah Don Draper is cool on the outside and troubled on the inside, yeah Boardwalk Empire is very Shakespearean, yeah Game of Thrones has one of the GOAT plots. But it's Carrie and Brody over everything right now.

How hard is it to discuss the fukking merits of what's going on on screen? It's always the same nikkas with these type of arguments against every show too. Yes, I agree with the premise of the thread. Homeland isn't better than the three shows you listed. But when cats are saying it's the best show on TV they're talking about the present since it obviously can't compare with shows that have three or four season head starts. Cats aren't putting Homeland on a Wire or Sopranos level, it's just purely a right now thing.

And my main point is that the very existence of the thread is ridiculous and the arguments being made against Homeland are ridiculous. Breaking Bad stans will be the first to say they don't care about awards (besides when Cranston is winning Best Actor every year) but want to hate on a show winning an award? And the method of hate is based on thread counts and popularity? God forbid nikkas judged anything on its own merits.
