They literally have way more assets than what other contending teams have. The “spending” just a defense. They aren’t that much ahead of other teams
This tweet here sums it up. Teams been catching up to GSW’s spending, and their desire to keep all draft picks is fukking them up.
For example, the Celtics gave up multiple first rounders to get back Derrick white, Horford and Brogdon. Not to mention, they traded 2 lottery picks (Romeo Langford and Aaron Nesmith) to help out their core of Tatum and brown.
The bucks just gave up 5 second rounders to get yet another vet in Jae crowder, next to a core of Giannis/Middleton/Jrue. And ofc to get Jrue, they gave up multiple picks, AND REMEMBER they were about to got Bogdan Bogdanovic before the trade was voided. So they have a shyt ton of vets starting and coming off the bench. They dont give af about the potential of Jordan Nwora or Marjon Beauchamp, they're trying to win now. Giannis and Middleton have missed a good amount of time, espcially Middleton (who has missed more or less the same amount of time wiggins has). The Bucks kept winning and were on a 16 game win streak, with a record of 50-20. Because they have guys who can play. So Giannis and Middleton and Jrue arent expected to give Game 7 effort during game 55 of the regular season
Other teams have no issue giving up picks because they wanna keep contending. U think Boston and the bucks miss those picks? And what is golden state doing? Drafting guys who don’t even fukkING FIT the system, and drafting injured players who are a waste of space and then giving them guaranteed contracts for 3 years. The warriors front office can’t even draft. Steph and Klay weren’t even drafted by this FO. They’ve been missing for years, using their 1st rounders to draft fringe NBA talent They really can't scout for shyt. Like seriously, they are amazingly bad at it. So they should be giving up those picks because they’re just gonna draft a guy that’s out the league in 2-3 years while contributing nothing on the team. Remember when Eric Paschall made all rookie 1st team? He literally fizzled out the league 2 seasons later
