Jerruh's statement

We are very grateful to DeMarco Murray for his contributions to the Dallas Cowboys. He is a quality person, a very good football player, and a player that we wanted to keep.

We have great appreciation for his skills, and if there was no salary cap in place, DeMarco would be a Cowboy. This came down to an allocation of dollars within the management of the salary cap.

Obviously there is emotion involved in these decisions, but it is critical that there be must be discipline involved as well. If it were a question of having an open checkbook with no salary cap constraints, we all know things would have worked out differently.

We have recently made significant commitments to top players who are currently on the team, specifically at key positions such as quarterback, left tackle and wide receiver, and we were comfortable with the offer that we made to DeMarco to include him in that structure.

These are difficult decisions that are part of the NFL. They are decisions that take into account the entire team, the current economic structure of the team, and the financial concerns for the short and long term future of the team.

At the end of the day, this is about finding the best way to collectively fit all of the individual pieces together, in terms of talent, offensive players, defensive players and dollars—under the salary cap structure—that gives you the best chance to have a championship team.

Dez over Spray Tan

Dez had to save Spray Tan fumbles all season.

Jerry's statement lowkey makes it sound Demarco will regret this decision.

Brehs we HAVE to get Gurley at 27 now. IDGAF at drafting BPA anymore
Nah BPA no matter what :camby: especially if its a pass rusher no need to panic and get a RB in the first when this RB class is so deep you can get a stud in the later rounds... Im fine with taking a RB in the 2nd at the earliest :win:

This doesn't change much in terms of how we should approach the draft, imo.

It's still pass rushers and DBs. I'm not sure Gurley drops, and even if he does, we can get Duke in like the 3rd or 4th perhaps. Not only do teams no longer pay RBs, but they don't even really draft RBs either. When was the last time 3 RBs went in the first round? How many RBs have been going in the top 2 rounds the past few drafts?

I say we keep adding talented, coachable youth to the defensive side and sign a vet RB and take a RB in the mid-late rounds.

We don't need 1800 yards. We don't even really need 1500. We just need teams to respect our balance and fear having to drop a safety out over Dez. Which they will, because our O-Line alone warrants that kind of defensive front 7 attention.

We offered Murray 4 yr 24 mil with 12 mil guaranteed. Which is fair.

Eagles game him 5 yr 42 mil with 21 guaranteed.

Then he said it wasn't about the money. It was about being able to win a championship. Obviously Murray on the Cowboys has a better chance of winning a title than Murray on the Eagles.

Guess nikkas lie everyday:yeshrug:

Not knocking him for getting that paper tho. I would've done the same thing

Yeah I would have left too.

Taxes, agents, accountants, and living expenses eat up a lot of that money. Plus he decided to get married during the tiny window in his life where he's making millions.

It's unfortunate things played out like this. He was a very good player for us.

But he's an Eagle now. fukk DeMarco Murray. I will enjoy seeing him continue that premium Eagles losing tradition and fail to get their 1st super bowl in franchise history

Only way I wouldn't mind a RB in the first round is if we were to get Hardy (Orakpo signed with Tennessee)

DL has to be the focal point.

And Hurry the fukk up with the McClain resigning. I'm gettin antsy.

Hardy
1st round RB
2nd round DT
3rd round LB from SEC :scheme:
4th round ????
5th round (special team returner)
