:scusthov:

FF XII wasn't that bad. I actually liked it better than FFX

But this generation people would have to be crazy to not at least acknowledge that they've been :flabbynsick:

Star ocean 4 :scusthov:
Last remnant :scusthov:
Final fantasy XIII and XIII-2 :scusthov:
Dissidia Final fantasy :ehh:

I think its time to just pour a 40 out for Japanese RPGs. Nobody is holding it down except for maybe Sega with the Yakuza series and it looks like SEGA might even be calling it quits on console development and moving to Facebook and mobile phone games :sadcam:

Xenoblade Chronicles still happened a year ago, man. Dissidia was cool too. And XII gets seriously shyt on unfairly in my opinion. I really liked that game (minus the tedium of the level grinding. Which is mind boggling, seeing as its combat system was best designed to alleviate that frustration).

But this company is seriously testing my patience. Kingdom Hearts III is one thing. I could care less about it, but people want to see that, so whatever. But yet another Lightning-related game? I didn't even hate XIII like that, but does the world really need three of those? Cloud didn't get that. Tidus and Yuna didn't even get that.

Is it so much to ask to get that damn Versus XIII material released in some fashion before then?

ff12 was ok, story was boring, the main character could have been left out the game and it wouldnt have mattered

fukking useless, whats the point if they cant even kill one enemy?:why:

Really? I liked the story and didn't really care that Vaan didn't matter, seeing as he wasn't the main character anyway, just the player character (Ashe and Basch were the mains).

Though honestly, I think the whole package could have been improved by making 2 of the focal characters Bagranth and Larsa, since a huge chunk of the story focuses on their struggles anyway. It would have been more interesting as well.

yeah but they coulda atleast made it from vaans point of view, his opinion and feelings on things, kinda like titus

instead he was just there, just some street rat tagging along, not saying anything

and the story was good, just the way its told is very boring

Blame Square and Japanese target demographics for the clusterfukk with the main characters. It was always supposed to be Basch, but since Vagrant Story, which had a similar character to Basch as a main character in Ashley Riot, bricked in Japan, they decided to switch it as soon as Vaan was created.

Now, why they didn't switch the focus to Ashe, since female mains were in vogue in Japan around that time, was the mystery.

And as for Tidus, he actually was the main character of FFX. Yeah, the whole journey isn't really about him, but his story is intricately tied with who it is about (Yuna, and their names even reflect it; "Tidus" and "Yuna" are derived from the Okinawan words for "Sun" and "Moon") and the resolution is very much about him, with the whole Sin/Jecht and Dream Zanarkand thing basically being all Tidus. Tidus and Vaan's situations aren't even remotely comparable in that respect.

im getting that feeling Versus 13 is like Metal Gear Solid:Rising before they gave it to Platinum Games and it became Metal Gear Rising. They probably didnt know what the hell to do with all the mechanics they were pushing.

and let's be real. by the time it does come out(?) it probably wont live up to any one's expectations. The hype for Versus 13 came once the overwhelming majority were left disappointed with 13. a lot of people are just expecting it to be better just because it isnt from the main team.

I still have hope but I wouldnt be surprised if Square is handling this like the PS3 version of The Last Remnant. Just mention it as little as possible and let it fade away...

:to:I hope they show SOMETHING at TGS.

Vaan is Yuffie status to me... I always though Balthier should've been the main character of FF12, I always rolled with him, Ashe and Basch. coincidentally, they were the only stories i actually cared about.
