So I was watching a documentary in another thread about the Larry Holmes/Gerry c00ney fight.
Then I started looking at Holmes' career and noticed he got beat twice by Michael Spinks.

So I go to look at Spinks' career.
Dude takes Larry's title in '85.
Fights against c00ney and some soggy potato named Steffen Tangstad....then gets his soul taken by Tyson in '88 and never fights again?

Dude was only 32.

:francis:

He probably saw the writing on the wall tho.

Mike never wanted to be a pro boxer, but situations pushed him to it. He prolly had a couple more fights in him physically but he got a payday and cashed out. Doesn't hurt how great he was. One thing i hate is that damn tyson fight pretty much shaped most ppl's view on him. dude is an arguable top 5 light heavy of all time. cleared out that division, was undisputed and lineal, and became lineal in another division. That man is a hall of famer through and through.

Spinks got the GOAT retirement package imo. Motherfukkka made 13 mill, for 91 sec of getting an ass whipping. Spinks was wearing patrick ewing kneepads before they were called pat ewing kneepads at that time :dead:

son got a olympic gold medal, dominated light heavyweight and won a heavyweight title. there was nothing more to prove but, it's crazy how the tyson fight just made him forgettable over the years. damn shame he don't get the respect he deserves.

He didn't beat :flabbynsick: :birdman:

My uncle told me a funny story about his brother Leon it was the mid 80s and I forget who the fighter he was up against was but it was in NYC and a week before the fight and this dude Leon was in the club smoking cigs and drinking with some Rican chick. :dead: My uncle being a huge boxing stan was like :ohhh: :noahwknd: He talked with him a little bit about boxing but dude was looking paranoid as hell, constantly checking the door and shyt when mid conversation he hauls ass to the bathroom with the Rican chick. My uncle was like :dwillhuh: and about 10 minutes later he realized why dude hauled ass his handlers came in looking for him. They were asking everyone at the bar/club if they had seen him and bytching about him doing this shyt all the time in every city they were in. Dude would just book in the middle of the night and go drink/smoke and get into fukkery :russ:
