Jiggerman didn't get popping in the industry until he was almost 30. On 'Ether' Nas called out all the niccas he was hanging around and crew hopped with...Kane was one of them.

All of the rappers around Jay's age were established. Kane, Heavy D, LL, EPMD, Fat Joe, Redman...even a nicca like Father MC...Jay was rapping like the Fu Schnikens trying to get traction while niccas his age were selling gold and platinum and superstars in NYC.
This thread is not about Jay, you deranged psychopath :mjlol:

I could be wrong but i think it's the fact that Kane, Rakim, kool g rap, ll, krs, etc all started in the "old school era" for lack of a better word. Theyare all dope but something about their flows sounded distinctly old school (cadence, syllables they chose to emphasize, etc). Jay started in that old school era but his first album dropped in the beginning of the new era.

Nas' illmatic is sort of in between, 36 chambers is in between, doggystyle is in between. I don't know if I'm making sense but I'm talking about flows, delivery and production to a certain extent. So i think that's why kane and them seem way older.

Not attacking you but correcting you.

The ol school way of thought plagued by the mca way.
Which was a free for all. That eventually disco ducks. Socially violated to the point of no return. That there was no mores and norms upheld in hiphop. Although disco and hiphop were socially juxtaposed. As disco boom is created. Then misapproriayed to the point of no commercial return. Hence. The name change of disco to pop to house to hip house to bop to drill. Disco is misappropriation of the commercialization of rnb. Where of course..
disco is the white person misappropriated genre signifying term for black music. That had not been misappropriated.
like blues into rocknroll then into rock.

Ll = created his own era as rhe boy king.
Which is its own era. That occurs after the cultural destruction of damn near everything in the Roxanne wars.
Which creared rhe segueway of legacy emcees who were forged in the ol school way of thought.

ushering in the new axhool way of thought.

Lead by the new school way of thought defining artist in krs.
Then leading into
Kane
Rakim
G rap
Plus every rapper since then being in the new school way of thought.

Things have been eroded from puff and jiggy or house being allowed to taint rap. Plus destroy the orotefrion mechanism of hiphop. That were upheld in the new sxhool way of thought.
. Sohh no gateway existed fro new school way of thought minded individuals. As puff's version of the mca way. was so degradative. It reverted things in general from commercialization. To be even worse than the ol school way of thought.
Sohh everything eroded from this. From not just hiphop. All of society.

well the Madonna/Playgirl stuff didn't help, but by the time he took a break in 94, the rap game changed. A lot of the OGs never really got a footing with gangsta rap. LL was the one who took an initial L and recovered, but a lot fell off. Then when Kane returned in 98, the game was entirely different once again.

Also didn't help that he never had the proper label or distribution he needed.
