That's still not to say that those two girls in the OP are descendants of slaves. Those chicks parents (or grandparents, w/e) could have immigrated to Iran. Did the person who wrote this article speak to the girls about their ancestry?
I'm saying white people always cap a black persons lineage with "slavery". Almost in a dismissive/disrespectful way. Now if those girls told the article author that they were descendants of slaves then...cool.

So what I get from a lot of the responses is that this shouldnt be shocking, as black people exist in every part of the world, even Antarctica and it shouldnt be interesting that they came from Iran.
I went to a village in the nothern part of Thailand and they had never seen a black man before, is them being ignorant or they should have visited the black people settlement a mile down the road?
The same if there are black groups living in Tajikistan, Krygistan, Kazakstan etc.
I used the example earlier of people shocked when they see Chinese, white or even Indian Jamaicans. They know Jamaica to be black. Are they ignorant because they don't know the history of the country? Or just assume that all countries in the world are multi-cultural and homogenous
