Man this why I wish they dropped a demo for this game. All the controversy around this game would have you think the game itself has anti trans rhetoric smh.
I bit my tongue so hard about this game. The hype is crazy ridiculous and something is telling me that the game will not be as good as folks are going to make it out to be.
Each time I tried to watch a trailer or gameplay footage, it just seems meh. Like something is kinda off outside the glorious graphics and "Harry Potter" theme. There's something that seems not there, but

For once, i have no stakes in a major AAA game release and its fun to watch. If its good, great. I got a new big open world rpg to play, if its wack whatever i don’t fukk with Harry Potter enough to care if people shyt on it.

A massive part of the hype isn't because they're expecting a groundbreaking rpg new Gen gameI bit my tongue so hard about this game. The hype is crazy ridiculous and something is telling me that the game will not be as good as folks are going to make it out to be.

The hype is massive because we are getting a good HP universe game after so so so long
The game, from the outside looking in is just above average. But to an HP fan like myself it's an absolute dream

As a kid I read all the books and extras, seen all the movies, played a few of the games, so I'm invested, but I still can't shake the feeling that this is a wasted opportunity. The hp universe doesn't lend itself to an open world action rpg, I'd much rather play a story heavy dialogue driven rpg like Dragon Age or fallout 2 with less of a combat focus. They have the money, add set piece moments, try something different. Kids didn't fall in love with the universe because they wanted to spam spells at giant spiders or collect 7 flying books for a side quest, we wanted to explore the world and learn the lore. Imagine a downsized game set within Hogwarts only, with a fleshed out dialogue system and character customization. A series of dialogue choices leading up to Hogwarts that affect the sorting hat's choice, holding conversations with the various portraits around the school, solving mysteries with different endings, it'd be something special.
We've got to call a spade a spade, Obsidian or Bioware should be making this game the dev team behind DragonBall Z: Sagas with this kind of history is not making anything worth playing.

But avalanche, believe it or not has blown everyone away, to come in with your first AAA title swinging, it's impressive to me.
We won't get everything perfect, the npcs are robotic, some clip ins, loading screens etc but the positives outweigh the negatives. This is what makes the game impressive to me.
As you posted there, this is their first AAA title, everything before had been very kid centric, this should tell you every studio deserves a chance to prove themselves

I would much rather have visual bugs than a hp themed assassin's Creed game, no microtransactions is the bare minimum. The dialogue system is bare bones, very disappointing, it'll be good for some quick fun but that's about it. Killing curses available to students?
