HL what is your opinion on the Death Penalty? Is it right or wrong?

the point is. The manditory harsh sentences for drug sales and drug use have severly deterred drug use in singapore.

you said it's not a deterrent and here is proof positive that it does works.

If you get caught smuggling drugs into Singapore you'll be put to death in three days. You're telling me that wouldn't think twice about commiting a drug crime there?

and to these people saying "what if an innocent person? Blah blah".

If there was a 1 to 10% error in the system, I could still sleep at night. It's the simply the cost of business. Think about how many lives could be saved by the deterrent effect. I'm not keen on these utilitarian/consequentialist arguments. I'll make an except in this case.

We don't need fukks like you running the country. The fact that it's ok to have error of up to 10% tells the type of senseless fukk I'm dealing with.

I agree with it under certain circumstances...I'm not so sure I agree with the way Texas handles things. But as a few others mentioned, there are some bugs that need to be worked out in it. I would probably be 100% for it if some sort of independent judicial review board or committee were in place to assess each and every case 3 times over to make sure.

I think it is a tough subject. I remember in 8th grade I did my end of the year project on capital punishment. I agree with what a poster said before that in theory it is a good idea. In practice it can have its flaws.

I'd support it if it were able to be meted out equally and fairly. With the way this country is set up, I can't. For people like serial killers though who are proud of their crimes....off with their head I say.
