the point is. The manditory harsh sentences for drug sales and drug use have severly deterred drug use in singapore.
you said it's not a deterrent and here is proof positive that it does works.
If you get caught smuggling drugs into Singapore you'll be put to death in three days. You're telling me that wouldn't think twice about commiting a drug crime there?
and to these people saying "what if an innocent person? Blah blah".
If there was a 1 to 10% error in the system, I could still sleep at night. It's the simply the cost of business. Think about how many lives could be saved by the deterrent effect. I'm not keen on these utilitarian/consequentialist arguments. I'll make an except in this case.
