Random thought... I'm looking into how minorities(specifically blacks) were/are treated in non capitalist countries.
So far it looks as bad or worse as America.
I'll make a thread when finished where you guys can tear my argument apart or concede to it.
I see the point you're trying to make but it doesn't necessarily match with the statement:
"I believe progressives' and socialists' history on the issue of race are far more damning than American conservatives' history."
In other words, it's unclear how the treatment of minorities is related to whether the country is capitalist or not and I'm not sure I see the connection between the "conservative" view of history and how that leads or led to better treatment for minorities.
I will say that if you accept that capitalism IDEALLY leads to decisions/policies dictated by the idea of mutual benefits and that these decisions SHOULD be made exclusive of whether you're black/white/male/female etc (big exception), then that SHOULD lead to a more just society. But there are a lot of assumptions that doesn't jibe with history.
