Sex education is getting worse as activists attempt to re-write these conversations because they don’t like talking about the disparities in HIV contraction between anal sex and vaginal sex. The people who suffer are the black and brown young men who are not properly being warned about this stuff. You could have raw vaginal sex with an HIV positive woman 100 times and not catch it. That’s how low the contraction rate is. Flip side it’s very high with anal sex between men.

The other convo people don’t want to have? Bisexual men, especially in places like Atlanta. A woman can fukk a straight men raw without major fear of HIV. But when you add men into that pool who are also fukking men raw you significantly increase risks. So straight women have to change their behavior. You don’t know which of these dudes is fukking men. So use condoms.

Why are they not being honest?

For the same reason some of them get mad that pregnant women are told not to drink alcohol, or that men are generally stronger than women (physically), or that women historically live longer/healthier than men etc. I think equity as a concept has been mutated to mean that everyone should be exactly the same, and any acknowledgement of differences they deem to be negative is immoral. So for instance many of us are black men right? We are significantly more at risk of heart disease than white men. Which means once you get a certain age you have to think carefully about sodium intake more than older white guys do. Now we could acknowledge this difference or we could say fukk that, don't treat us different or babysit us so we should eat all the fast food and pizza we want in our 30s and 40s. That's just not smart, given the disparities in outcomes between us.

So when you say anal sex (between men) is significantly more dangerous than vaginal sex, there's a group of people who take offense and want to know why you're treating one group differently than another. Or why you're insinuating one practice is worse than another. It has nothing to do with moral judgement. I have no issue with gay people, and I also acknowledge a significant percentage of gay men don't even have anal sex. But it's simply a fact that anal sex often tears membranes in your body and results in blood exposure that does not happen with vaginal sex. HIV/AIDS are transmitted via blood. Just like with the heart disease example, there are gay people who simply say fukk that I can live my life how I want and if straight people can have raw sex so can I. It's just not smart.
