"The all-important start date for the beta is February 12th 2016. That’s when anyone who has preordered the game on PlayStation 4 will get guaranteed access. A week later, on February 19th, the beta will be available for everyone that has pre-ordered for PC.

As you saw glimpses of in the trailer, the HITMAN beta is set twenty years in the past at a top secret ICA recruitment and training facility. This makes it an extremely unique mission because it revolves around how Agent 47 was recruited into the ICA and shows the first time that 47 meets his long-time handler, Diana Burnwood. This will be a moment of huge interest to fans of the series and the perfect starting point for newcomers to the game.

We’ve also got some extra news, specifically for our PlayStation 4 players. HITMAN will feature six PS4 exclusive contracts that we’ve called “The Sarajevo Six”. These are self-contained contracts that see Agent 47 travel the world in pursuit of six former members of a paramilitary unit called CICADA. Each target was a private soldier guilty of committing brutal war crimes. Many years later, fate is finally catching up with them.

These six contracts will see Agent 47 visit each of the locations in HITMAN – from France to Italy, Morocco to Thailand and the United States to Japan. The first three contracts will be available when the game launches on March 11th 2016 with the rest becoming available as new locations are released during 2016.

The beta will truly be the first step into the world of assassination – and we can’t wait to welcome you all!"

Staying true to the vision
At the end of 2015 we saw a lot of great progress and the game now feels like a genuine Hitman experience. The game is shaping up really well and the release is just two months away, plus the Beta is set to hit next month on February 12.

Now, we’ve always said we won’t put anything out until it’s ready. That means what we release has to hit the quality level you have come to expect from a HITMAN game. To ensure that level of quality, we made a big decision on how we’re releasing HITMAN. After a lot of consideration, we decided to take the full leap and publish HITMAN as a truly episodic game experience with a major live component. It’s not a decision we’ve taken lightly and we fully acknowledge that the decision may frustrate some players. But it is a shift that we believe will ensure the best possible foundation for this game and the future of HITMAN.

I try to be objective but not this time.:camby:Square don't got the juice like Telltale Games and this is super ballsy on their end. There is a reason why this didn't pop off with Half Life 2 and SIN episodes. I'll be waiting on the Steam sale anyway.

HITMAN RELEASE DETAILS: On March 11th 2016, we will release the initial launch content, which contains three locations - Paris, Sapienza and Marrakesh - featuring six campaign missions. For Contracts mode, you’ve got a combined pool of around 800 targets to craft your devious Contracts from, which means we’re expecting fantastic things.

Following March, we will release one new sandbox location per month in April, May and June. Each location will come with additional missions, signature kills and more Contracts targets – and of course new disguises, weapons and ways of taking out your target. April takes you to Thailand, May will see you visiting the United States of America and June sends you across the globe to Japan.

In addition, the live content will start in March. This consists of our live, time-limited targets, weekly IOI developed Contracts and promoted content built by the very best of you out there. Because, let’s face it, millions of you played and created fantastic Contracts for Absolution and we’re betting you’ll do even better this time around with so many targets and such complex locations.

THE INTRO PACKSince we announced HITMAN at E3, we’ve had a lot of feedback on what we’ve revealed about the release model. Full access to the world of assassination will cost you USD $59.99 (or regional equivalent). For that price, you’ll get everything - all the content we’re planning on releasing, access to all live events and a secured spot in the HITMAN Beta, which will be available on PlayStation 4 and PC only. No additional costs at any time.

Today, with the INTRO PACK, we’re also giving you an additional option to jump onboard with just the March content – at a lower price point, of course. The “HITMAN Intro Pack” will also be available on March 11 2016, and will be priced at $34.99 (or regional equivalent). It includes all of the launch content, plus all Live Events and Contracts for the locations released in March 2016. Nothing more, nothing less.

Then, if you want to access the rest of HITMAN, you have the option to upgrade your purchase to include all the remaining content (and at the same time get access to all subsequent live events and Contracts across all locations). This will cost you an additional $29.99 (or regional equivalent). The upgrade pack will be available for purchase once the game has launched in March.

That’s it! Head on over to the forums or get in touch via Twitter (@Hitman) and let us know what you think.

From Travis_IOI of Hitman Forums

"I'll start: The blog post is pretty clear when it describes the March Launch Content: "Six campaign missions" and "three sandbox locations."

When we say "sandbox location", that's what you could also call a map. They're large and open areas full of content, characters and stories. Some of those locations will have multiple missions inside them. But there’s more to it than that: the locations have been built in a way that makes it possible to change them for each mission. That way completely different events can happen in different areas.
We’re able to make a location feel completely different depending on the mission and setting you’re playing. Whilst the place in the world is ‘technically’ the same – everything else about it will feel completely fresh. It's safe to say that each mission will be very diverse.

Over time, we’ll be able to show what we mean visually in a much better way. The key takeaway is that a location is not simply a building map or a checkpoint anymore. It's a place that allows for various things to happen like a real city or area. On that note, Sapienza is the next location that we’re going to show a lot more from, starting this month."
6 campaign missions?

Make the game shorter for an online aspect that could be hit or miss.

As if the last game wasnt short enough

They have completely messed this series up after Absolution and now this trash I am hearing about the campaign being even shorter than they were in the past.

The OG Hitman (Codename 47) all the way up to Blood Money were all classics. I remember after the first one bombing so hard that I thought we might never see another one...

Then I saw this and I remember being hyped AF for it :gladbron:

I'm glad they are making them shorter im not 13 anymore I don't have time to play games all day, so I hope other game developers see this and follow this trend.

"Preorder the full experience for beta access."
full
I expect this from EA, Ubisoft and Flabcom not from Square. I'll wait for the GOTY edition on Steam.
