That argument is nonsense. First off, fleeing a country due to war or persecution doesn't mean people stop caring about it.

Second, the US directly funds and enables what's happening in Gaza. Protesting here is just as much about Palestine as it's about holding the US accountable for its role. Telling people to "go protest over there" ignores the fact that the US is part of the problem.

Lastly, the 1st Amendment applies to EVERYONE in the US, including immigrants. If you don't understand why people protest, that's *your* problem.

You intentionally misquoted a post from another thread about an innocent protester facing retaliatory action from an authoritarian Trump administration to give the impression that this is something that I would defend. Why try to twist reality like that? Recognizing the reality of the country we live in isn't tantamount to supporting everything someone does as a result of having those rights, nor does it mean supporting those rights being abused.
