How is Garvey significant? What did he do on this level?
Garvey was one of the only other of our leaders who understood white people's nature and how it would influence their behavior in each race's struggle for the resources needed to survive. He knew that one day white people would have gotten to point scientifically where they could kill us off without us even knowing he was doing it. AIDS, EBOLA, etc., and now COVID.
He knew that without the protection of an organized and competent Black government Black people the world over stood absolutely no chance against what was coming, which was why he was trying to get us set up back over in Africa. And from his language he knew what needed to be done in Africa to help bring that government about.
He knew all this over 100 years ago, without the benefit of all the information we have today, and most importantly he acted on it. He actually bought ships and was in negotiations with the Liberian government to provide land for Blacks to return.
Hannibal's old man knew the european nature back then, that they'd never be contented with sharing power in the Mediterranean with carthage or anyone else, but would never rest until they were THE power everywhere. He knew their word was shyt, he knew they were a deplorable and decrepit people, and the only way to check them was to attack them in Italy.
That kinda deep foresight along with the courage to act upon it comes to a people but very, very rarely. Too rarely for us not to listen and take heed from the lessons they tried to impart.
