We’re all considered minorities because we’re in a poverty state,” Kirby says, referring to West Virginia.

This was phrased poorly, but this kid is in the right ball park. Its not like Howard and morehouse are getting white. Who needs the support system of the HBCU more, a poor white kid or the black kid whose parents both went to stanford? As far as im concerned helping people who are first generation in college should be a bigger priority than speficically supporting black people.

Now in a historical context this is just more evidence to me that integration was not the right move at the time.

Integration y'all :blessed: Let's be real though, all the black kids be wanting to go to ASU, Texas, or Florida State to party, or if they wanna bookworm it up Harvard, Stanford, Duke, etc. Most of the blacks still going to HBCUs for the f*ck of it are legacies, their parents went so they went. As become more integrated and interracial I expect more of this to happen :manny:

The more white people go to HBCU's the more black people will want to go to them. Ironically. Decent facilities and its cheap. :manny:

Cacs gonna be giving out scholarships and fed money to put all kind of Other minority groups into these schools then when black people say WTF, they'll say.

Now now, dont be racist.

What a setup.

Honestly who cares, these are few lower-tier schools, in an age there are many black students at much more prestigious schools ...

what grave? im still alive

i dont think this story is a big deal, people should go to whatever school they want to, its kind of inevitable that this would happen, the existence of HBCUs is based on government mandated segregation, so if you remove government mandated segregation then HBCU's reason for existence becomes shaky

There's no government-mandated segregation at any HBCU. They have always accepted students of all races. They became "Historically Black" because White people didn't want to attend them.

Furthermore, Delaware State, for example, is 13% White. How many majority-White schools are 13% Black?
