except the mexicans don't dress in the sombreros and pointy shoes like that. Thats like people saying we still dress down in fubu and phat farm. Believe me, I know. I was in arizona and new mexico for 5 years
I've lived in towns where Mexicans made up more than 50% of the population my entire life. So i know too and they do. Not all of them of course.
Like with the Italians the fascination with their culture was rooted in the Italian mob but you had rappers dressing up like Italian mobsters.
The fascination with Mexicans is purely because they are who you go to to get it cheaper.
The mexican drug dealers(just like italians) dressed in a manner that let you know they were pushing.
Italians: Gaudy jewelry, track suits, and Italian suits.
Mexicans: Gaudy jewelry, expensive alligator and ostrich boots, and expensive cowboy hats.
When you see blacks impersonation mexicans by dressing up like them the way they did Italians, then you can say they want to be mexican.

I'm from Cali.
When you say "try to be mexican" I assume you mean taking a liking to their culture
Blacks took a liking to Italian American culture.
Blacks are only taking a liking to Mexicans being the main drug pushers now.
It's all a matter of opinion but to me that's the a difference.

Just read through most of the thread, crazy seeing how other ppl see you,I'm mexican by the way, born and raised in LA,south central to be exact, mom always had us living in predominantly black neighborhoods, through middle school I lived in Rollin 20's hood,High School in Harlem crips, now I'm living close to Rollin 60's,I was never one to stay inside the house,so I grew up playing outside, running around the streets, fighting and all that, with black people. It even feels weird to even say black people, cuz to me they just people from my neighborhood.I never really experienced any racism from any of them, never got called a wet back, spic or beaner or any of that.Yea I know racism exist,I can tell you from my own family,I have some Ese cousins, that would always give me shyt, cuz they knew I was "down" with black people, that I dressed like them, liked them, dated and had crushes on black girls, didn't know Spanish, that if I had a broader nose i would basically be black.i have also had uncles talk to me from prison, telling me to fall back from them, cuz in the end, they wouldn't have my back no matter how good I got along, that I had to stay with my own people, cuz when push comes to shove,I'd be just a mexican to em,and it's true, from seeing all this post,I guess I've always lived blind, always being cool with everyone, regardless of race, cuz I seen that posters here already feel some type of way towards me but never met me,I was actually surprised by @Malta stance, cuz he is one of the real good posters on here that I always respect his opinion on most topics, but it is wat

Funny thing to me is, to the untrained eye he looks like a n!gga. The irony of him not wanting his daughter dancing with pinche mayates, but to white people he's a n!gger. Where I'm at, there are very few Mexicans, and they do their best to stay off the radar. He looks more like a light skinned brother than a Mexican. Like Irv Gotti's pedophile cousin. Around here they'd look at him like a half-breed, and still less than white. The nerve of him holding racist views like that. Fukkin irony.

Blacks & Mexicans have a totally different kind of relationship than the boricuas, Dominicans, & Cubans. Especially in the Tri-state area.
yeah,,, it wasn't til I was early 20's did I not consider my dominican and rican boys .... just like the rest of my friends. Now I am careful with anyone who isn't black -- my bm is cuban... my other bm is rican, jamican mix......... both never say anything other than black.

I never considered a mexican as anything other than a cac.
