Could there ever be a rolling stone of hip-hop or how about an artist whom every fan gravitates to like country music.

A dope sixteen surfaces two weeks later and it's :ehh: This n*gga fire can't wait for new sh*t.

The new generation of black people are in general straight haters.
Same with the new young white cats when it comes to music at least, there can't be a rolling stones in any genre.

It was easier in the 60s when you had 10 artists that got radio play and 1 was better than all of them.

we just started. give us time before we can have a rolling stone.

Theres been 30 years..
Melle Mel and Slick Rick couldnt go on tour in front of sellout crowds across the country,i get hip hop demographic might be smaller scaled but when its been the highest selling form of music for 20 years,it doesnt add up...Hip hop is funny like that, its cool to disrespect and dismiss the legends that paved the way....

In rock beatles and Mick Jagger are considered demi gods and legends...in rap people laugh at Kool Herc because hes "old" and works at fed ex... :manny:

you can't compare hip hop to rock..

you have to accept hip hop on its own merits

there's a competitive nature in rap that's not found in any other genre. out with the old, in with the new. takeover by force. none of this heir apparent bullshyt. its always been fueled by youth

Music fans are fickle in a ton of genres. Rock has just as many fickle fans. Like Limp Bizkit, Korn, and the like weren't HUGE and then completely fell off the map.

No Doubt fans complaining the newest album is 'too poppy' and 'over produced'

It's all the same shyt really.

:obama:

This is true. People are disgusted at even admitting to be fans of them at this point.

No, because rap is basically made for teenagers.

:comeon:

Hiphop is not a young genre anymore.
Which genre is not made for teenagers? Every mainstream genre is besides maybe Country and soul music. But Rock, EDM, Hiphop, Pop and all that is made for young people not teenagers but 15-30 year olds. But as you grow up, you usually still love the artists you grew up listening to.

How often to do you go to a big festival and see 40 year olds there?
The average age is like 23. When U2 came out their fans were young as well but as time went those fans just kept on listening to them and that's why they have old fans. But a new rock band won't fukk around and have an avg of 40+ at their concerts.

Its only fueled by youth because alot of the fans that buy it and love it are idiots that dont respect it,therefore all the old heads dont get respected, why should hip hop got to be pigeonholed as young music ? Outsiders are allowed to label it as such...rap should have legends tours and sell out arenas all over the world like all other genres...biggest selling genre but it cant because goofs inside it and out want to keep it stuck in this young mans box....:yeshrug:

Nah we are clearly more fickle then rock limp bizkit and even korn was considered a fad to many of there fans at the time. its only normal that they would grow out of their music. Bruce Springsteen could come out with an album tomorrow and go platinum eventually, if Run–D.M.C. released an album it'll go plastic
