I used to think this nikka was a weirdo that made no sense, but lately, I’ve been agreeing with some of his statements.

I haven’t decided on this one because on one hand, we took the scraps and made something of it and also sampled mostly Black artists, but on the other hand, he has a point.

Thoughts?

@3:50 until I figure out how to timestamp on my old version of YouTube mobile.

Just copy the link, then add #t=3m50s at the end of the link when you're embedding it on the coli.

You have 3 minutes and 50 seconds

Above the fray.
The crip gangbanger/rapper in the clip is just not that intelligent. He has a right to his opinion, but it's not an informed one.

Now I see why there was so much brushback against Lord Jamar's book challenge. MFers are comfortable in their ignorance.

They don't even know the origins of the artform that is their livelihood.

I honestly feel like hip-hop will no longer be "Black" in the next couple of years.

I just watched the video and I see what he is sorta trying to say, but i can't rock with it.

WE had to build our own culture from the ground up. Breakdancing, hip-hop, etc. Was started in America because we've been here for decades.

It sounds like he is on the whole "BLACK AMERICANS HAVE NO CULTURE" and "AMERICA IS NOT YOUR HOMELAND" wave which I disagree with.

Agree with the guy with tattoo on his face brehs

:smh:

He talks about the clothes. What clothes gotta do with the hip-hop?.

Hip-Hop/Rap is a product of American black culture. America being a diverse nation there isn’t a control on who can consume whatever music they please. Black Americans did create rap/hip hop/rnb, so it is an aspect of American black culture.

Dj Herc. Jamaica. Chatting. Call and response. Jazz. Scatting, Rock & Roll.

James Brown. Last Poets.

To be more specific rap is Black culture from the South Bronx in NYC.

Why is his opinion ignorant? Culture has a broad definition, so yeah, you can say that hip hop is black culture, but I definitely see the other side of what he’s talking about
