Kendrick as a rapper is overrated but this album isn't. The hate is wild suspect.

Not that I agree or disagree, but how is he overrated as a rapper?:ld:

My take on Kendrick as a rapper is that he is capable of doing all of that lyrical gymnastic shyt, but he doesn't really use it at all when he's crafting songs. He prefers to get his message across in a broader thematic fashion as opposed to complex bars that are superficially impressive.

He aint the very best at spitting pure bars, but he's still elite when he wants to be.

Overrated in the sense that his actual bars aren't really mindblowing most of the time from technical standpoint, that's part of the reason why he uses that funny voice flow to distract from it a bit. But his artistic sense and song making ability are top notch, his ability to put out a quality product that appeals to a broader base is what separates him from most others. That's why I fukk with Kendrick, but I can't calk him the goat.

Even if they didn't like the album none of his peers want to come off as a hater or bitter and shyt on it.

Some dudes won't say anything about it until they're asked about it. Has Cole or Drake said anything about this album? I don't think the cats who are in direct competition with Kendrick giving dude all the praise that the older cats are giving him for this album.

lol at Kendrick being an "industry plant"

Kendrick is a socially conscious, religious rapper who goes out of his way to not make radio-friendly music, encourages black pride, attacks institutionalized racism, calls out white supremacy, spits lyrics that are abstract and hard for the average listener to understand, takes a long time to release music, doesn't release 50,000 mixtapes/songs a year, uses musical styles(jazz, funk) that the average 90s baby doesn't listen to, and doesn't follow the popular trends of modern hip hop

You're telling me THIS is the guy the "Powers That Be" chose to force down the throats of mainstream America? Well then they suck at doing their jobs

Maybe, just maybe, there are a significant number of people out there who happen to connect with his music. If you're not one of them then cool, Kendrick's music definitely ain't for everybody. But just say you don't fukk with it, no need for all the extra shyt

doesn't prove that he's not an industry plant. Media businesses force "counter programming" all the time. They've sold him as the anti-Drake, and there's a market for that. The average person thinks in binaries, and media makes good money off that philosophy.

as for him not following trends...hogwash. He's a religious rapper in a country that is mostly religious. He relied on Drake to come up. Enlisted Hitboy and T-Minus (trendy producers) to get heard. Then made the rap version of "Black Messiah" a few months after it dropped. Goes all 'social commentary' on audiences after seeing Cole sell major units doing so. Relies on trending celebs like Taraji Henson to get the word out. Did a surprise album release just like Drake.

cmon son.
