I've had fun though...definitely very smart people on this board...may not be correct on policies but good guys...I look forward to doing more of these...not exactly as easy as sitting down and writing your thoughts and having to speak live on the cusp on issues

Politicians care about their own interests first. You can't expect them not to. If I was in the position, I certain would.

They are racists in the Republican party.

What's wrong with accepting reality here? If you want politicians to act in our interests, then there has to be policy that will their align incentives with ours. It's not about Republicans or Democrats. It's simply about human behavior.

read a little of this Wikipedia article. You may find it to be enlightening.

You contradicted yourself many times over which is why I wanted to move on

You started by saying senators have to act in their own interest, even if doing so is not in the interests of their constituents or the country

Then you said they should represent their constituents at all costs, even if its detrimental to the country

And then you said you ate dinner w/folks who made racist comments about black people, but just kept quiet and were thankful to just be in these folks presence

Youre a very confused individual

You are like one of these but for GOP talking points

Be serious for a moment. You made everything out to be the fault of the big Bad Republicans, and Democrats are these altruist, public driven, victims of Republican bullying.

Get real dude. Of course the politicians from those districts are going to act that way. Those districts are filled with people who have a warped view of the president. Obama's race is an issue, but not only that. He has name that sounds "Muslim", and he has a history of being associated with radicals and extremists.

You guys nominated him into your party knowing full well; his history, his race, his name and his wife. You have to deal with those consequences.
Next time, Put someone who is not so controversial at the helm of your party and your convoy of ideology.

It is it shame that Obama isn't seen objectivity by a large minority of American? Yes, it is shame, and I don't think it's fair that he is tainted by his birth name and his physical appearance. What is fair or just or moral, is not what is going to achieve policy objectives. Maybe you guys, democrats, should be a little more objective and practical the next time you pick a presidential nominee.

Don't try to continue the conversation here cause you couldn't articulate a complete thought and got ethered on the podcast.

What they should do is not what they are likely to do. Don't confuse what I want with what IS.

Politicians are going to act in their own interests, whether we want them to or not. If a statesman's district or state is full of people who use xenophobic fears to analyze the president, then that statesman is going to use covert terms and symbols to appeal to them. He wants to appeal to them while keeping his political career afloat. That is what is behind a lot of this increased shuffle and bickering in congress.

Me personally, I don't want increased spending or increased power, and the apparent dead-lock in the senate, is EXACTLY what I want happening, because I don't like the progressive agenda. I feel it's bad for the country in the long-term. Whatever their reasons for doing this, I feel it is good for the country not detrimental.

Honestly, no white person has called me a gook or chink, but plenty of black people people have. I don't really feel the need or want to defend black people. They are a group that has straight-up rejected me, and I have my reservations about defending them.
