high rep/low weight vs high weight/low rep

I start with low weights and high reps and work myself up to high weights low reps. So a squat workout might start at 10x135 and end at 3-5x275. I don't know about the science and all that; it started from me wanting to warm up more and I like to try and also push personal best numbers in the same workout. :manny:

no need to over-complicate it

for size, do the heaviest weight you can pull 8-12 reps off 3-4 sets with

for strength, do the heaviest weight you can pull 5-6 reps off 3-5 sets with

i like to do size-focused rep ranges for isolation exercises and do the compound movements (bench, squat) with strength-focused weights and rep ranges

The 8-4 and fiery moats
I've been staying in the 6-8 rep range for the last few months. I've recently started going on the 5x5 rep/set range on most of what I do. Mostly for strength tho. I'm about to go back to mostly 8 reps for that size.

Supersetting exercises also helps too...
