I don't like what it says about me that the old crazy angry divorced wife was the one that revved my engines the most in this show:mjlit::mjlit::francis: I need help.

I need to binge this, this week. Hadn't gotten to it yet. I love the original movie, it's a classic.

I’m about to cut it off now... just about a mulatto bytch obsession with white women and dudes and looking dumb for it

Pretty much. This came on as a recommendation. Lasted through 3 exes. I’m like.. really Zoe? You don’t like mess any black guys? You don’t think there are black guys who like rock music? Or corny hipster music? Lol. Then It makes me think, does Lenny Kravitz identify / or loves his blackness? Is she embraced by enough of it?

I guess the only way to get this show approved was to mess with white men who make her look like a mess.

Gona support Insecure all day. Plus it has better music.

:usure: So brehs we not gonna talk about the annoying AF mammy character?

That was my other issue. The FIRST Black character had to be a loud badly shaped big black woman with obnoxious clothing on.

:snoop:

Trust a mixed girl who creates her own show brehs

The main ex was a black dude. He's playing Barack in a upcoming miniseries.

Sounds like they’re paying you money to support it. Are you a part of Zoe’s camp? Or affiliated with one of the cast members? I’m intrigued to hear more about the thought process and casting.

But she put the money up breh.

:unimpressed:

Nope, it was backed by Disney. Show was supposed to be on Disney +, but it got moved to Hulu. They're not gonna cast her in a show with a predominantly black cast because Hollywood doesn't really perceive her as black.

She grew up with rich mixed parents and went to private schools in places like Venice Beach, Miami, and Manhattan. I'd guess most of the people she's hung out with most of her life are either white or mixed. Her idea of blackness is probably pretty different from you or I. Not really fair comparing her to Issa, who had 2 black parents and at times went to predominantly black schools.

A lot of critics have commented that the original book was very much from a male perspective, so in transposing it to a female perspective a big chunk of it doesn't make much sense. I can't say I disagree with that analysis.

The book is a great read btw, but its this nerdy, toxic guy thing of categorizing things and people, objectifying and fetishizing women. Women don't do that shyt, at least not to nearly the same extent and not in the same way.

I was initially too harsh on the show.
it turned out pretty good and I look forward to seeing what happens next season.

after being dismissive of the immediate supporting cast I actually grew to quite like them.
could've did without the gay guys bottle episode though. it just seemed too late in the show.

her and the guy that played the love of her life didn't have much chemistry to me and he was kind of annoying.

favorite episode was probably the one were Zoe and Jake Lacys character went to get the records from the divorcee in the Upper East Side.
