Yeah, the PPI phantom 2 channel are best bang for buck right now according to your requirements and on a sub, the difference between a good amp and a great amp isnt as noticeable as on the fullrange speakers. So Id splurge on front speakers and amp more. Or you can use a ppi phantom 4 channel in 3 channel mode and power the fronts and the sub with enough power.

This pioneer 4 channel is a good deal too. Class d small and def powerful enough to drive the dayton on a bridged set of channels. Underrated in the power ratings.

You dont think it's worth it to have some rear fill? I ran and liked the 2.1 setup in the past... I guess that's 2 less speakers to buy... but I figure if I have rear passengers in the car it would be weird for them. Too boomy/bassy. So I would want to keep em but prob only run em when I have rear passengers

You have any recommendations on head units? I want sometihng with a parametric EQ and tuneable delay with a screen. I think all the little Pioneer double DINs have that shyt.

Yep the new pioneer units, some jvcs as well and more expensive alpines

I hook up the rears to the headunit's rear channel built in amp and fade forward unless I have passengers. Stock rears is fine or cheap coaxials. If youre using time alignment/delay, you just want to delay your front driver's side speaker and adding rears ruins the image if you are going for sound quality in a non 5.1 stereo config. 2.1 is the easiest set up to get to sound great in a car.

Remember, the front speakers are not far away...How far away are you from your home speakers now? Sound still travels in a car.
