All of the above requires us to raise up a paradigm among our own of we maintaining integrity, responsibility, and honor. We have to be Black first, not party, not religion, not region, but Black. We have to get our collective acts together and build, because only from a position of strength will we be able to force them to give us reparations.

This sounds great, the problem is the idea of American individualism and foreign otherness.

Some black folks are cool as long as they got theirs. Some black folks like to hold their point of origin or culture up as to why they're better than other black people. We'd need a unified cultural ideal if not an identity. We would probably also need to leave America those of us here, or have a home base the same way the Chinese do that can't be assailed by Caucasians. I don't know if that's possible in the current world.

If it were it would require a removal of individual cultural identities and the merging of the best parts of each that could lead to that kind of collective aid and resources building.

But in my opinion its not the wardrobe thats the problem. Its black people clinging to our culture and resisting assimilation by "trying to be different" like you said. I believe black people could probably just conform/voluntarily assimilate like other non whites in this country and gain ground. You’re right that this subject matter will fall on deaf ears due to the subject matter. But when it comes to business, and other things, suits are the standard to be taken seriously. I can’t tell you how many young brehs I’ve seen show up to job interviews not properly dressed. Even your coat matters. Buy a nice wool overcoat.

The only difference on their end is that they will have more allies to use against us. They along with the rest of the "Wish they were White Crew" will do what they always do, attempt to destroy anything we create. The difference will have to be on our end. We will have to be resilient and continue to rebuild and defend our stuff even in the face of their aggression. This is where we have to actually focus on being able to rely on each other, because every other ethnicity will be trying to tear anything we create down.

None of what I am saying is going to be easy or even fast. We will have to be strong and focused to accomplish what we need in order to meet our goals. It all starts with a paradigm shift and a focus on building ourselves up even in the face of massive oppression and discouragement. We must rebuild, because the path we are going at the moment only leads down into the dust and irrelevance. Which is also exacerbated by the political party our people normally votes for seeking to open the flood gates to enlarge the buffer classes between us and the WASPs.

I am 54 years old. I have been thinking about this subject since 1990. My answer is, I don't know. I just may not be enough of a visionary to know how to go about creating an environment that would foster the new paradigm among our people. I know a shift needs to happen, I see where we are going, but I am not the one to forge that path for us. I do hope some of you younger brothers and sisters will have an epiphany and figure out a means to the end.

Me, because of my illness, I quite possibly will be dead before one of you figure this out and enacts it. So my desire is for the future of our people, by way of my family and descendants. I hope for better for them.
