It was only OK. Andre did a good Jimi impression - Not 'Ray' level, but good. The fact they couldn't put Jimi's music in it definitely hurt it.

Wasn't impressed by the story in some parts - like the over the top domestic violence, which wasn't proven in the book it was taken from. Also they essentially tried to make out that Jimi refining his genius was a product of being around cacs in London, rather than working with cats like Little Richard and the Isleys.

They didn't get anywhere near covering The Band Of Gypsies either :mjcry:

Ruth Negga is just :ohlawd:. Someone needs to cast her in a Sade biopic.

I don't think I'll even watch it on bootleg then.

them not being able to use hendrix music made me uninterested
Blame his sister...

Apparently she doesn't want his music being played in scenes where drugs, alcohol are being used or something like that. Sucks because most of the time, the estate owners only want to make films that only tell half the story.

It was well known that Jimi was kinda shy,but when he drunk he could get angry and fukk a chick up. Pretty sure that is the big reason on why they didn't get the Hendrix estate onboard with the film.

If Ray Charles, The Doors, James Brown, Johnny Cash bios all included their music, I don't know how they thought they could tell Jimi's story without it lol I wanted to.see Andre tear this up but the shyt was tied up in so much politics I was like fukk it. ...do the knowledge and grab the 1999 Band Of Gypsys dvd ...Hendrix (Wood Harris aka Avon Barksdale nailed it) or the updated 2013 documentary from 1973
