Rick rubin is in another tier when it comes to producing like a quincy jones. Few in hip hop can match his credibility in multiple genres. Only dre can touch him.

Bruh, that Going Back To Cali beat is STILL the shyt! I love a clean and crisp beat.
That's 1 of those songs you put on when you just cleaned the car, the sun is out and you got ya shades on w/ a fresh cut and ya pockets fat w/ cash.

Yeah, a huge problem I had w/ that album was 1 too many cheesy "love songs" and it's far too long.
Cause there are gems on there but it's far too many songs on that album.

So I checked out Red Hot Chili Peppers most recent album...The Get Away released in 2016. Apparently, the first RHCP album in 25 years not produced, by Rick Rubin....and it shows. It's produced by Danger Mouse, and they missing their old guitarist Frusciante...but I couldn't get past 4 songs ...it's awful.
Point is Rick Rubin put rock in rap, and in reverse put rap beats in rock music. So his versatility and quality across genres has propelled him to sell 100 of millions of records .... so I can't say Russel Simmons opinion is without merit...
