I never really watched A Christmas Carol and those Scrooge movies much. I'm one of the few that never really cared for that story. Too depressing.
Depressing? Have you read the story breh? Its actually one of the most optimistic (and frankly too unrealistic) Christmas stories ever

My list is coming this weekend.

:mjpls:A bunch of ghosts bringing an old grump around to look at what his life could have been and what it's like after he dies just to make him get into the holiday spirit.

I've seen all of the Christmas Carol movies breh and they're all depressing.:skip:
:ehh:Maybe not the Muppets one.
And I'm not tryna read the book.:upsetfavre:

So exactly how is the ending, or the last third of Christmas Carol movies depressing? Scrooge changes his life, personality, and world perspective and becomes more involved, caring of others (which I argue is incredibly important especially in this capitalist system), and avoids all the negative things the ghosts show him..He ends his life as a loving and caring individual and helps the poor and needy...again, how is that depressing?

I wasn't talking about the ending. Obviously the point of the movie was to come to that conclusion and make him change his ways. I just meant the whole story up until the end is depressing to watch. It's a good story, don't get me wrong. I just can't put it in my top 10 list cause I avoid those type of movies around the holiday. Nothing about A Christmas Carol is fun or funny which is how I like my Christmas movies. The Muppets version is the only one I like really.

You're right breh but the thing about this list from what I noticed yesterday, is this is going to be very very personal for everyone. Christmas seems to mean a lot to a lot of people here, for various reasons, so I don't know if there can be a logical argument as to why a certain movie is on the list and a certain movie isn't. I agree with you about a christmas carol but I also know people who feel the way he does about it. There's gotta be something about these movies that speak to us on a personal level. Scrooged isn't on my list because 1. I've got a Christmas Carol movie on my list already and B. it doesn't speak to me as much as the ones that are on my list and there's a personal reason each of those movies are on that list. Some of them deep reasons, like Home Alone, some of them not so deep, like Trading Places, but it's not always the best constructed movie or the best acted movie. It's just the movie that moves me
